    Default ReCOil Guides for a 9-foot, 5wt.

I'm looking for opinions on single foot guides for a new build. I was toying with the idea of using ReCOil guides. I hear they are very light, but noisy. Any opinions on the Rec's and any suggestions as to what I might use will be appreciated.
    Thanks

For the wire guides, the recoils are nice. I personally use regular single foot ceramic fly guides on most of my rods and worry more about keeping the wraps and finish minimized. But if weight is something you are very worried about, look at the Titan guides. They are supposed to be light (but expensive).

RECoil guides don't belong on everything, but a 5wt fly rod would be well served with them IMO. Be sure to use a ceramic stripper.

Definitely stay with the single foot wire, not the RECoil snakes - they eat lines with their razor sharp edges.

I personally prefer Fuji SiC Titanium guides on 8wt and up, but prefer to keep the weight even lower on lighter rods.

I have never heard of this phenomenon. How can a piece of round, plated wire have a sharp edge? If this is truely what is occurring, how can they be selling so many guides? I'll go ask this one over on the rodbuildingforum.com board to see if others have experienced this.
