Default help in posting pictures to BB?

I know its been asked before, but I can't remember how. I have a pic scanned, and saved in "my pictures" on my pc. Can anyone tell me how to insert it into a post on the bulletin board? Thanks for any help, Jim

I pass it on to help you too..

MyFishingPictures.com is used frequently around here. Once you have posted there, copy the link below your image and paste here in your thread, but inbetween

    [img] [/img]

    the are the important part.

    Jim, ...

You have to get it TO the internet first ...

There are s few steps to do first before we can post photos for all the world to drool over.
    • the photos need be "housed" somewhere on the Internet[/*:m:cdfe8]
    • you need to "reference" the photo so that it "appears" in the thread on FAOL.[/*:m:cdfe8]

First off you need to send the photo from your computer TO the internet. As said earlier a place one can use is photobucket.com ... a free site that houses images. I just opened an account, it took about 3 minutes.

You follow the instruction at PhotoBucket and upload a photo from your computer to PhotoBucket. In my example, I sent a file called fcch_ava64.jpg

Second, you need to write a posting here on FAOL and put into it the appropriate UBB code.

Ubb code is those [] characters and stuff that help us format the posting with boldface, colors etc. Further, the codes let us reference other web pages .... and ... Photos.

So, I sent a photo to photobucket and want it to appear in this post. I type into the post:

    and this picture (should) appear

Question, how do you know what to type.

In photobucket, once the image is posted there, in your album, you'll see the URL in a window. That is the "adress" you add in between the and such as http://www3.sympatico.ca/chris_chin/index_files/104-0442_IMG.jpg[/url:cdfe8]

So if I add this "adress" or URL in between the and

    We (should) see:

    Hope this helps ...

Thanks everyone. I have to admit I was still struggling and calling the computer names 'til my girlfriend showed up and got me past a sticking point. Great idea about printing this post Betty, thanks! I posted the pic under the post about me buying the boat, if you want to see how "we" did... You folks are Great! FYI; I did actually pass (ace) the U.S. Power Squadron course on safety, so I'm not nearly the menace on the water as I am on the internet, techno-challenged or not!!!

    Betty,

LoL, ... No ... but I use the Search fonction on the Board as well as on the Site quite a bit.

(ok, OK, .. I cheat, ... whenever I use search forums to find a thread, ... I'll book mark the adress, ... I sort 'em and move them to a folder on the disk.).

    Edit:
(... and any time I can help LF and JC save some of THEIR time, ... I'll jump at the opportunity

    Betty;
fcch emailed the procedure to me a week or 2 ago. I'm waiting for my new computer before trying it though. Send me and email and I can add you to my address book and then forward it on to you. This is a 7 pager!! It is a very detailed instruction.
