    Default Harold F. Blaisdell fans?

The Philosophical Fisherman (1969) and Tricks that Take Fish (1954) are two of the finest books on angling I've read.

Anyone have information on Mr. Blaisdell? I've searched Google with little success other than identifying his books. I've ordered his Trout Fishing in New England and am awaiting its arrival.

I'm certainly a fan of Harold F. Blaisdell, but I can't give you any more info. IIRC, he retired from being a school superintendant many years ago. I wish that he was more popular today.

Ed--thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that he was a full time writer and didn't know he had been a school administrator.

He also wrote The Art of Fishing with Worms and other live bait. It has a chapter on snelling and one on wire forming lures and trolling gangs. I'll see what's on the dust jacket for him

Thanks, Fatman. Blaisdell's style is so enjoyable and his insights about fish behavior and angler success so profound, I'll read anything by him.

    Smile Harold Blaisdell

Here is everything I could find that has been printed by him. There are two links to on-line book stores that are very handy to search for any printed material, especially the out of print items.

I also have "The Philosophical Fisherman". I clipped and saved some old articles of his, too. I really miss the outdoor writers of his generation: Ed Zern, Ted Trueblood, Byron Dalrymple, etc.
