How does it work? I mean how does it attach? Is there a plug that goes in it's place with you are not using it?
I am thinking about building a 4 piece 6 wt, with saltwater seat, but am investigating the removable fighting butt. . . .

The removable fighting butt has a built-in bolt that screws into the bottom of the reel seat.
Separately, you can buy a screw-in butt plug that will replace the fighting butt when not in use.
The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to manage it, and the more pleasure one gets in his achievements.

The REC's that i have installed comes with a butt cap that you can use if you don't want to use the fighting butt. They screw into place for easy removal.
