    Default Okuma SLV Fly Reel

I just picked up an Okuma SLV large arbor for my 9 weight. I plan on using it for Tiger Muskies in some of the lakes around my area. Does anyone here have any experience with this reel. Seems to have a pretty good drag and it holds a ton of line. I'd like to say how much it costs, but I'm afraid the cheap price would slant some opinions.
    Thanks,

I have a Okuma SLV on one of my 7wt's. I've had some decent smallies on the reel with it and it performed just fine. The drag is one of the best I've felt on a "less expensive" reel. You're right, it holds a ton of backing and is a large arbor and is light as a feather. I've got several machined Lamson's that I like but I dont hesitate to grab up the SLV anytime. For a cast reel, it's my far & away favorite. I believe I like the SLV better than the new Lamson Konic, and I can buy 2 SLV's for the price of one Konic!

I have heard nothing but good things about this reel and most of the good comments have come from steelheaders.

So I have been keeping my eye open for a even "better" deal on one in a five or six weight for my use also.

Quite a bit smaller but I have the Okuma SLV 2/3 wt and love it! It has proven to be an outstanding Fly Reel for my H&H 6'6" 2wt.

I am sure you will enjoy your SLV.
