Source for a low rpm motor

I am looking to find a low rpm motor to make a drying wheel. I am looking for suggestions on a source. I tried radio shack, but no luck.

I would think a rotisserie motor (like for a BBQ grill) would be perfect. I know they sell them at Home Depot and Sears Hardware.

If you already have a motor that is too fast could you put a dimmer switch in stead of an on off switch?

One of our local Bug Club members recently mentioned that he found a good selection of low rpm motors at an army surplus store - for like a buck or two each.

Worth a try.

the dimmer switch idea works also,I made a rod wrapper with a sewing machine motor .I cut my own pullies for it to reduce the RPM's then added a dimmer switch so I could tune the speed.

Some great suggestions. I had an old rotissarie motor, but it went dead recently. I looked for another and was shocked at the prices. Some went as high as $85! Grainger is close to me I'll check out there motors. The Cabalas motor is within the price range I wanted to stay within. Bamboozle can that be easily mounted to make a drying wheel?

Bamboozle, never mind I just took another look and it has the mounting holes.

Here's where I got my disco ball motor. They have 1, 2, 3 & 5 rpm models. Don't buy the battery operated model. If it goes dead before things dry, you won't be happy.

Microwave turntable motor on left (6 rpm) and disco ball motor on right (3 rpm). Both have styrofoam adapters for drying epoxy flies, and both are used for drying rod wraps. PVC caps are 1 1/2" with hole undersized from motor shaft, then force (interference) fit over shaft. Both have worked great! Slovenian Engineering.
