    Are those photos from Kamchatka?

I don't understand that part about not being there tonight.

Nevermind, I found your other thread about a presentation.

The deal of a lifetime was the Wild Salmon Center trip, which I no longer believe to be available.

What does it cost now to do that trip? How much in-country flight is involved? The worst possible thing about a trip to Russia, in my mind, is flying in Russian aircraft. A lot of trip to hunt Marco Polo sheep in the former states or to fish on the Ksmachatka Peninsula involve flying in Mi 8/17 helicopters.

And here I was expecting pics of Russian brides.

    How disappointing.

But at least the pics of the fish are incredible enough to make up for it.

Besides, my wife would argue that we're really not polygamists and that I'm not allowed to take a Russian bride at this point in my life.

    How disappointing again.
Thank God for my wife, the midge nymph and those hapless Iowa Hawkeyes!

  8. Default Cost / flying

First, I was extremely impressed with the Russian flights and felt very safe in the choppers. There are only 3 outfitters that I know of who do this on a regular basis and have a good reputation. (Ouzel Expeditions, the Fly Shop, The Best Of Kamchatka) I went through Ouzel and they were impressive from start to finish. Check out Ouzel.com. As far as cost, I figure I shelled out $9000.00! This includes some new gear, food, hotels, flights...... Really the outfitter is the same price as a good lodge in AK but the flights over are almost 3000.00. I'm not a rich guy and had to dig deep to make this happen but it was all worth it. I look at it like a student loan! CFISHER

Jim, just remember the very harsh, legal penalty for having two wives, two mothers-in-law...

  10. Default Fish and Bears

We do not share the rivers with other people, at least on our programs. What that means is you do not see other rafters, jet boats, float planes and lodges. We do not run out early to beat people to the water. I talk with potential guests every day and they ask me the same question, how many other lodges are around, the answer, none, seems incredible.
Very true. We saw only fish and bears. I have fished in many places worldwide and Kamchatka is by far the best so far.

Will, thanks for your reply it is always nice to hear from people in the bussiness. I did ALOT of research before going to Kamchatka and your service was always spoken of highly even by the Ouzel guides. I hope your season this year is good and you get a few more folks taking the shorter trek. It's well worth it. Cfisher
