    Default new rod project

I want to build a rod that will handle bass, trout from 8"-26" and steelhead. I have found a blank that is a 6-7 weight. Is this a good choice? Oh yea the blank is manufactured by fly logic if that helps thanks for the advise

Some guys over on rodbuildingforum.com have used the Fly Logic blanks, and don't seem to have any problem with them. I believe someone recently posted the same question on their site and received that answer. The 6-7 wt is just fine for bass and steelhead. Most of the steelhead fishermen I know are using 7 wt rods, but I used my St Croix 6wt Premier for 7 years for steelhead with no problem. Biggest fish landed was 13#. I now have a 9'6" Cabelas LST 7wt for steel and salmon.

    Go for it!

Hey there HarleyBob, I've been swingin' a Pfleuger 7wt. for steelhead and trout for several years now with no problems to speak of. I've landed a few steelies about 24" with it. For trout, though, it felt a little heavy, and thes spring I got a new Redington 6wt. I really like it better, only been out for steel once with it, had a couple nice ones jumpin, but lost 'em. No fault of the rod. I think the 6 is gonna be fine, and I like the feel of it better than the 7. I fish the Rogue quite a bit, and on the heavier water, I'll probably still use the 7..
