    Default Kingfisher Bamboo rods

I recently picked up a Kingfisher bamboo rod at an antiques store that is in decent shap. It will definitely need some TLC. Does anyone have any information on these rods. The gentleman that sold it to me said it has been in his family since his Grandpa purchased it.

    Thanks for any info,
    Seege

Hi FireMan, is 'Kingfisher' the brand name or perhaps the model designation?

    Cheers,

It has Kingfisher stamped on the polished metal reel seat. It will need to have all new hardware guides and possibly some restraightening done. Im thinking of sending it to one of the local bamboo guys that makes rods. Hopefully he can give me some info on what really needs to be done. Ive basically bought the two rods to try my hand at restoration and giving myself a couple of projects this winter.

    Thanks for the info,
    Seege

Kingfisher labeled rods were made for Tyron's ( spelling ?) Sporting Goods Store around Philadelphia, PA back in the 20-30's,. Researched this years ago because of a #5 weight 7 1/2' - 2/2 with red intermediate wraps Kingfisher flyrod. Would have to find the info in the fishing library for more details.

    Smile Kingfisher Bamboo

Hi I too have come across an Kingfisher, that has the Kingfisher round Label, and the stamped reel seat it is a 9' 3pc, with extra tip, cloth bag, and tube, all original, I too was wondering what it was worth and if it was worth refinishing. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
