    Default Wading jacket suggestions please!

    Good day all,

As you know father christmas will be visiting us soon, and I was wondering if any of you had comments , or suggestions about wading jackets?

    I was looking for a jacket in the 150 dollar range;
Looked at different models from cabelas, ll bean, and columbia.

The columbia jacket is my choice for the moment, but have no idea if it is any good.

I fish all year round. on streams.

Any ,and all comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Have a great weekend
    chris

Columbia makes a great wading jacket; you really can?t go wrong with them.

However, I use Cabela?s brand jackets. The Cabela?s Gore-Tex Wading Jacket keeps me dry in the hardest rain and snow. It falls within your price range. I use an inner liner for winter fishing for extra warmth.

For a little more, the Cabela?s Gore-Tex Guidewear Wading jacket would be a great one to have and those waterproof zippers actually work, as long as you remember to zip them closed.

I for years used a Patagonia and found /find it to be great....needing a second one I went with the Cabela's and find nothing wrong with it.

I'm partial to jackets that have neoprene wrists that close tightly. I hate it when water runs down your arm when you raise your arm to cast.

I have two vests, one for summer and one for colder months. The Hodgman summer vest has a problem that I hope they fixed. The pocket flap is sewn down at the edge so it can't be fully opened, which makes it hard to put objects in.

I just received the LL Bean Emerger wading jacket for my birthday this week. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet (our rivers are icing over) but I put it on the other night, and "field tested" it in the back yard during a freezing rain/snow storm, and it worked great!

It's $79.99 (plus $20.00) in duties and taxes. They have free shipping to Canada until Christmas. I know it might not be in the same league as some of the other jackets you mentioned, but it might be worth a look. You could use the other $50 to buy some other toys!!!

    Best of luck with it.

ooops, my mistake, sorry. jacket huh? Waterproof + breathable + tight cuffs + hood "in" the collar. Chota makes some nice things. The hood snaps to a hat brim,,, turns when you do. No more going blind when you turn your head. Neat idea.

I carry a PVC wading jacket in the back pocket of my vest. I bought it at Hook and Hackle some years ago. I think the price was $14. It has all of the features of an expencive jacket except its made out of nasty, cheap material.
I've used it a few times over the years and it works if only to put it on when it starts raining to run for shelter to wait out the storm.

I got a very comfy, lined, water-proof windbreaker from Wal-Mart for $8.88 last year. It works quite well for me. Canadian winters might vary just a tad from Tennessee winters, or so I've heard.

Redington for a hundred bucks. Wearing it right now. Good construction and keep-the-water-out features. Hood is nice too.
