    Default Fishing pictures...

    Okay...

If I'm fishing alone and I catch a trout I want to take a picture of, I get it up to the shore,(already have the camera in my hand and turned on) leave it in the water and snap a picture or 2 before I let it go. I like to get a lengthwise shot, and a macro of the head, or sometimes the fly in it's mouth. I do this quickly, takes all of 15-25 seconds, then they get released.

So when you all are fishing alone and catch a fish you want to take a picture of what is your technique to getting a quick shot for a fish you plan to release unharmed??

    Thanks
    Chris

If it's big enough to use a net, I keep the fish under water in the net and snap the photo with it in the net or gently lift it out of the net and snap the photo. If it's smaller (most of the fish I catch ), I make sure my hand is wet before touching the fish and lift it out of the water and snap the photo with it in my hand. I think the key is to not touch the fish with dry hands or in a dry net and not to let the fish be out of the water for any more time than is absolutely necessary.

I'll cradle the fish in the water until it swims away under its own power. I also try not to figh the fish too long so it does not get terribly fatigued.

I fish alone all the time.
If it's a larger fish, I keep it in the water and take a quick pic like this-

If it's a little guy, I hold it in my hand briefly- (caught in the Pocono Mtns., PA)

If I have a waterproof cam with me I might try one of these as I'm landing it-
