    Default Switch Rods

Anyone here every build a Switch Rod -- if so, what blanks were used as well as which components. Was a kit purchased or individual components.

Also, is there a preferred action -- i.e. fast versus moderate --- in terms of loading a switch rod. I would think a faster action rod would require a heavier line to load it.

Hello Orthoman, Happy Turkey Day to you. Check Gary Anderson's website out.

    http://www.andersoncustomrods.com/about.htm

And then check out Bob Meiser's website.

    http://www.meiserflyrods.com/

They're good friends and live and have their shops not far from each other and between the two of them you will have all the info about switch or spey rods that you will ever want !

    Cheers,

THanks Moose. I have checked out both meisner and Beulah -- both in Medford. Beulah uses an IM8 graphite but I was unable to determine what Meisner uses.

    I will check out Anderson.

Was fishing yesterday using an 10f.t 8 wt and having to do spey casts with a single handed rod with a short fighting butt. Kind of worked but thought it would be much easier with a longer butt for sure. A switch rod seems like the ticket.

THanks again and have a good Turkey day yourself.

Mister Meiser has his blanks made by many manufactureers depending on needs. Graphite USA, CTS, and others. No matter who makes the blank they are all world class, I've never found anyone that doesn't love their blank/rods from Bob.
Rainshadow has a new line of switch blanks.
Another blank that make a fine switch rod is the 10 ft Dan Craft FTs. I have one I built on a seven weight and it is a phenomenal rod.
Forgot to mention that what a blank's graphite is is of little consequence if the person using it doesn't know what they are doing.
