    Default Headwaters

Im going fishing this weekend to an area where the river I want to fish is low and warm and unfishable. Will the upper headwaters deal me the same fate or will they be fishable? I thought that headwater streams stayed cool all summer?

    Thanks for any help

    two questions to consider:
    1. is there an appreciable elevation gain which might influence the temperature?
    2. if so, can you take the temperature of the water to assess suitability for fishing? My thought is that the water would be cooler when closer to its mountain source. That is the case where I fish and I will be heading up river thirty miles or so where I know that the water is cooler

Garden, thanks for the info, Im not really sure about the elevation or anything like that as its my first time heading the the area. I guess I'll have to ask some locals.

    Doug,

From where you are at go to Clark's Creek north of Harrisburg. I don't know about levels, but it is shaded with hemlocks and the water temps are usually good. Or closer to home try the Tully in Reading. Go early too.
