Default ANYONE, ELSE, EVER FISH ONE OF THESE?

I, hope, that asking about this here is the "right thread"?
I recently was given this fly rod to; "test, try out and give feedback on". However, with better fly fishermen on this site, than I am, I was wondering if anyone else has ever tried this rod and can give me some feedback on it as well!?

It's a "Sister's Compound Rod" by brand name. "Power Rod", by model name. Each and every rod is individually hand made by one gentleman, (and I may be wrong on this part, but I believe he also has a son involved in the business, too!?), in an eastern Oregon resort town, called; "Sisters".

Now, the "thing" that makes these rods so "unique to our sport', is that one rod.......... is capable of throwing a VERY wide range of fly lines, AND, throw them very well!

The rod pictured, is a 7 footer. "2pc. with another piece"!?! How's that, for a rod description?

But, it's really the only way it can be described, because this rod can throw a 10 wt. line! Or, it can also throw a 9-8-7, or a 6wt., as well. Until, that is, you "stick on it's auxiliary tip" THEN it will cast 5-4-3, or a 2wt. line!? The "axillary action tip", is 12" long and friction fits into a S/S "barrel", which is built into the main rod's blank, just aft of the tip-top.

Hard, to believe, I realize. But, I've lawn cast it and fished with it, using my 8-7-6-5-4 and 3wt. lines. (I don't have, and have not tried, a 10wt. or 2wt. with it).
I, hope, the pictures better explain this rod, than I've been able to do!?! And, of course, if anyone HAS ONE also I'd sure love your feedback on it!

With all the rods,I already own, I don't know what I'll do with this one, but my bride's sure been nice enough to give me some "ideas' as to "What I can do with yet another fly rod"!?!
Any questions, please PM me, or email to; " flybinder@flybinder.com
(And, NO! I'm not "reping" these rods, and I'm not a dealer for them, either).

    Flybinder:

I'm not trying to break your chops here but...

    Unique?

Fly rods with multiple tips/mids and even butts are nothing new. Bamboo guys have been doing it forever. Actually if I'm not mistaken the Diamondback bamboo rods come with two different tips. As far as one rod throwing multiple line weights that's nothing new either but almost all rods that purport to do multiple tasks are not a whole lot different from my 1975 Eagle Claw Trailmaster Spin/Fly rod...

They do more than one thing but neither thing well. In other words; the "gimmick rods" will cast a lot of lines but there will ALWAYS be a compromise with certain line weights.

By the way is Roland Martin expanding into fly fishing?

I personally think ANY rod builder who makes an attempt at getting me to stop buying WAY more fly rods than I'll ever need or use is a evil person who should be drummed out of the sport and chased out of town by a torch bearing mob!

    The very idea!

I remember when my bride & me were married just a short time, and the KIRBY vacuum cleaner salesman was giving away a case of Coke if you would listen to his spiel. Well, I never knew that a vacuum cleaner could do everything except get your mother-in-law to leave, including spray painting the car and shampooing the rugs! I was waiting for "it slices & dices & julienne's your veggies," but it never came. After about 20 minutes of this nonsense I threw him, his 25# machine and his case of Coke out. My engineer brain said there were way too many things going on there to be effective at any one thing, so it must be a gimmick with a heavy price tag.

Sorry, but I don't want one rod that does it all. With my luck, it would get slammed in a car door 200 miles from home...with no backup, "cuz you only need one rod!"

    Nice try, though.

I'll bet he makes a carburetor that gets 120 miles per gallon too.

but but but,,,I like having different rods of varying actions, lengths, weights and stuff....
Wouldn't It get a bit monotonous Fishing the same 9' 5Weight?!( to me it would.)

P.S. What is that funny looking thread wrapped tube in the 3rd to last picture?

P.S. again...Echo makes a 2 tip rod also,,,even though some of you claim the rod above is not just a 2-tipped rod, I believe the idea is basically the same.
