Thread: Sage SLT replacement

    Default Sage SLT replacement

What replaces the Sage SLT model?

Somehow I thought I read there is a Z-LT model but I must be hallucinating.

    Thanks JC...very informative....

ZXL is a little confusing to me...I tend to think of it as indicating XL replacement

    Ducksterman,

Looks like I am the guilty one that started the bad naming convention for the SLT replacement. My bad!

    krausebb,

Tell us more. I went to test cast a few 4wts about 3 weeks ago, but my local shop sold out.

Is it fair to say ....there was the LL series....then the SLT series...and now the ZXL series...each replacing the other...somehow I hadn't thought of the SLT replacing the LL?

I talked to a Sage rep about the action of their new ZXL. He told me that the ZXL series is closer in action to the old LL series but not as fast as the med-fast action SLT series. Basically the action is in between the two but more towards the LL series which is moderate action. The blank of the ZXL is similar in color to the old LL series but much lighter since its a generation 5 graphite fly-rod. The XP series was a fast action rod and the SP was a more medium-fast action rod. The XP was replaced by the Z-axis series and TCR series rods. Just giving you what I've been told. Good-luck!
