    Default Griffin Montana Mongoose Vise

I have read the Hans Weilenmann article on the vise and Im wanting to upgrade from a DanVise. Anyone got one of these or any comments on the vise?

Daz, I have been using this vise for a couple years now for all of my tying and have had no problems with it. Rotates well and holds hooks firmly.

I've got one and I like it, especially the fact that it comes with a case and both clamp and pedestal bases. The rotary feature works well and the jaws work well for most hooks. My only problem is that it is not as good at holding small hooks (24 and smaller) as I would wish. My Renzetti Traveler does better than the Mongoose at that. Perhaps there are midge jaws that could be used. I've never checked.

    Daz,
I've been using the Montana Mongoose vice for little over than a year like it. I have also had the opportunity to use the Danvice and found it to be to be a good vice. The only drawback I found with the Danvice was the short space between the Jaws and the body of the vice.

I currently have a Danvise and im having the problem of it slipping on my bench because of the clamp design. The jaws are also worn these are the reasons for upgrading.

I love mine. I have a renzetti traveller but like the Mongoose much better. I did buy some midge jaws for it for tiny flies. I really like the way I can rest my hand on the flat top.
