    What I find interesting about all the responses is the lack of mention of most of the old time popular fly patterns that were mainly used for trout. Like the Renegade, the family of coachman's and my favorite stream fly - the Rio Grande King. Makes a fellow wonder what the responses to this question would be 20 years from now.

    Adams
    Renegade
    Elk Hair Caddis
    Birds Nest (streamer)
    Olive WB

    In all the placed I've fished, at least one of the above has produced fish on a consistent basis.

    Olive woolly bugger with yellow tail and hackle (and a wisp of red marabou in the tail)
