Anyone have any experience [or even opinion] on the hooking ability of Mustad's "swimming nymph hook"?
To me, at least, it looks so good I'm wondering why it isn't tauted more.

I just checked the Sponsor page for Mustad and cannot find that hook from your description and I would like to see it. Can you give me a Mustad hook number for reference? Thanks
Warren
Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
I believe the referenced hook is the 80150BR
I'm curious what others' experiences are, too. I have some TMC 400Ts I've never used. I guess I've not encountered a pattern/style that seemed to really make a good match for the swimming hook. Now, if I was more creative, then...

I have bent a Tiemco 200 to create a swimming hook, but I bought some last year for real. They make great doubles patterns:
Wow, FG...was that your idea????
Question ...are the two beads really necessary or helpful?....do they make it on the heavy side????
Why isn't it used more for damsel fly nymphs???????????
YIKES!

Could you sub the metal beads with plastic or glass?

Enjoying the joys of others and suffering with them- these are the best guides for man. A.E.
I have used that style to tie some of the Skip Morris Panfish flies.
I like they way they work.
