Thread: Punch yarn question

    Default Punch yarn question

    Yesterday I went to Michael's and JoAnn Fabric looking for punch yarn. Both places looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Not really knowing what punch yarn is I did find at Michael's something called DMC Embroidery Floss. Is this the same as punch yarn?

    I am by no means an expert here. But I do not think that the two while both for types of embroidery are the same. I could be wrong, and Jack Hise perhaps would be a better one to have the answer for this.

    Now upon my educating myself, (love to find cheaper materials for the dh) I found a Lady who does sell the actual Cameo Brand (sorry if there is copyright infringement here) for 1.80 per 200 yds. PM me here if you want the link. Maybe if you emailed her directly she also could tell you if there is a difference in the two types of material... I think floss is floss and the Punch is Yarn.

    I CERTAINLY COULD BE WRONG....sorry if I have put my foot in my mouth. 1.80 Sounds good ? Any of you know if I am mistaken ?

    Tyronefly;
    PM your mailing address. I have 17 colors and will send you some 5 yard spools.
    I scored them some time ago, 200 yds skeins for a buck each. Punch yarn was popular about 30 years ago, You could punch it through plastic screens. sort of a paint by numbers craft.

    Tyrone.I got it a number of years ago when Wal-Mart carried it...now it seems to be pretty much only available on the internet....I'm surprised someone hasn't provided links..they usually do...I haven't saved them but a google search should do it....maybe ebay too...

    That's where I get mine. Cheap and a great tying product.

    Does any one know where I can buy some empty spools so I can use a bobbin to tie with the punch yarn I have?
