Thread: Favorite Scissors??

  1. Default Favorite Scissors??

I am looking to buy a new pair of scissors and was wondering if anyone had suggestions!! I have been using the original 2 pair of Orvis scissors I got 2 years ago when I started tying and they just aren't cutting it anymore (pun intended). Thanks for suggestions!!

Dr. Slick Arrow points, I love that serrated edge; you can cut a big bunch of material at once without it slipping out of the tips of the blades.

I really like my Anvil Midge Accu-tip Ice Scissors. They are very sharp with adjustable finger loops and I can hold them in my hand while tying.

Ditto to the Dr. Slick Arrow Points. I have several pairs of scissors, but these I use for most tying. The exception is a pair of Fiskars for more difficult to cut materials like wire, lead sheet, Deer Hair, etc.

Anvil supreme and anvil long reach. American made scissors. I have been using the same scissors now for about 3-years. I like the large finger wholes allows to keep scissor in my hand as I am tying. They seem to be staying sharp even when I do dumb things.

Anvil. They don't look like much but they work really well. So do my Tiemco. I would take either over the Dr. Slick any day.

I love the Wiss Clips. They fit in the palm of my hand and I don't have to lay them down when I'm tying. As a matter of fact, I'll be ordering some blades from Al next week.

I have the Anvil straight and curved (for deer hair) and they are great. 8 years and they are still sharp. For general tying if flies #12 and smaller, I use suture scissors that I received from a doctor who removed my stitches following an injury. Very fine, sharp point. Yes, they were sterile when he removed my stitches four years ago.
