Anyone have any info on how to tie Puglisi flies? They look like they would catch lots of fish.

I've tied up a bunch, in preparation for an upcoming trip, but have not used any of them yet. You may want to PM bluegill222. He's tied and fished them and really likes the way they take the fish. I'll be seeing him at group therapy (fly tying group) this evening, and I'll ask him to check this thread.

Here's a tutorial for one style, and that's what it is, a style of tying. Can be tied in many sizes and colors.

There's a lot of steps, but they really aren't that difficult to tie. They are extremely durable and not as difficult to cast as you'd think they would be. The trick I've found is to not layer in too much material at a time. This stuff doesn't compact much when wet like natural fibers (marabou, bunny fur, etc) tend to. I also tie a lower profile minnow pattern with the Puglisi fibers that works really well, also

I like to tie these on circle hooks for white bass, wipers, black bass and such. A wide gap streamer hook works well for crappie and panfish. The Gamagatsu mentioned in chewydog's link is as good as any for the larger profile shad and baitfish imitations.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
I was really hoping, when I opened the link, that you'd have shown the 10x hook you were doing!
They are easy to tie; less is more; good fun! Thank you Tim!!

That's the major style that I tie. They are easy and very effective. I tie most of mine to mimic Shad and Bluegill/Pumpkinseeds.

Hear's my attempt at tying a Puglisi style bait fish.
