    I once heard a fly tier make the point that splitting the body hackle like you did in the second fly adds even more apparent movement than a fully hackled...makes sense to me.....

    Very, VERY nice!

    It's amazing how adding just a couple of strands of crystal flash adds so much life into that fly!

    I need to start doing that more often.
    Thank God for my wife, the midge nymph and those hapless Iowa Hawkeyes!

    Very nice! The 2nd one looks like a New Zealand style fly, with a thinner body. Bet both will produce well.
