    Default Question for Donald Nicolson

    Donald,
There was an excellent reference site for North Country flies, http://www.SnipeandPurple.co.uk , that I enjoyed visiting. The last couple times I tried to open the site, I got bizarre messages, and no pages of history, or flies. Would you know if it is no longer a source, or has it changed names?

    Hi Betty,
I have looked at the site in the past, but not recently, it looks like he has withdrawn the site but the address is still open.
There are a few other sites, I'll do a bit of research and post a list.

I did a quick search of my bookmarks,
    http://www.wetfly.co.uk/

    http://www.mike-connor.homepage.t-online.de/index.html

    http://www.spidersplus.co.uk/home.html

    http://www.fishingwithstyle.co.uk/northcountry.htm

The last two are commercial sites, but they can give you ideas.

Wow!! Fantastic!! Thank you Donald!! You and the others on your UK sites have aided and abetted this spider addict for years now. The thought of losing one made me slightly frantic!! But I'm better now, thank you.

    Hello Betty,

Just to add to Donald's reply - the Snipe & Purple website was run by Robert Smith of Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Robert (and his Wife!) had a baby over a year ago and he found that the addition to his family made life rather busy, hence the reason for dropping the website.

    Kind regards

    Phil.

Well there you are Betty, you can't blame him for concentrating on the more important things in life.
Any other sites I think you might like, I'll pass them on.

As Phil said my wife gave birth to our second child last year, a boy who we've named Joshua, or as he is know in our fishing club "Little Snipe" So I am sorry to say I decided to let the website die a gentle death and concentrate on family matters. Happily since I stopped tying flies semi-pro i have had more time to get out and fish and am currently in the process of writing a book about fly fishing and have a publisher lined up. I may get round to starting up the old website again as i have thousands of fishing photos old and new that need a home.
    Regards Rob.
