That's a good one! My biggest LMB was ten pounds on a creek. Keep at it and that ten pounder will come along.

My first bass larger than a couple of pounds came from Uncle Connie Looney's stock pond when I was around 12 yrs. old. Every chance I got I'd creep up on his pond and try to flip a fly into a shallow little neck where a bass always "bounced" a spot in the water made a huge wake leaving. I finally caught the wind just right and managed to stay a bit further back than usual and still reach the proper spot to place the fly. This time the wake didn't show up until after the fly had been sitting for a few seconds. She really blew up on it. I couldn't imagine a fish clobbering a tiny #10 gill fly like that. I was used to 1-2 pound bass really taking a whack when they hit, but the pond really opened up. My cousin Jerry Don was with me and was fairly shouting and dancing. She gave me several decent jumps and tailwalked a bit. My heart was in my throat, but I finally beached her and pounced.
She wasn't a giant by most folks standards, but ranks up there with my most memorable catches. Five and three quarter pounds seems pretty decent for a pond no more than fifty yards across.
I went back to that pond many times after I grew up, but never duplicated that catch. I did have several catches of 25-30 gills in the 8-9 inch range though.
Uncle Connie died some 5-6 years ago and I haven't been back since his funeral. I fondly remember his request whenever he saw me, "Rod, when are you coming over to catch me & 'Lizbeth some fish?"

Have not caught any big bass on the fly yet, not largemouth bass. I did land a nice striper on the fly and that was pretty darned exciting!

Still looking for that big one.

I did not see a black dot on your posts but will look again. Perhaps if you select the edit function and review the entry from that side. Or possibly get some Windex and a paper towel LOL That last is more likely a problem I would have.

The dot is so you know what topics you have posted to.
