Thread: Sage Launch

    Default Sage Launch

I have a Sage DS-2 590-4 which I really like. I am wanting a 3 or 4 weight (leaning towards a 3 wt.) and since Sage no longer makes the DS-2 was wondering what folks thought about the Launch?

I think they're great rods. They have a nice smooth, medium, fast action. I've cast the 4wt. and I was very suprised how well it responded. Go for it!

    Go get you one!!!!

They cast really smooth and are also very forgiving. They seem to have a lot of umph in the bottom of the rod to get you out that little bit of extra distance to boot. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I love mine, it seems to suit my casting style.

I have cast the Launch in a 4 weight and loved the little rod. My brother just purchased one too and it is very smooth. Great rod for the price and hands down sweet!

Thanks all for the feedback. It is to bad that Sage no longer makes the DS-2, but I can imagine the Launch replacement is an even better rod. I am going to test cast the rod this weekend.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a line to match up up with this rod? I too am thinking of a 3wt but am unsure which line to buy. I probably won't have the chance to test cast lines.

The FLi was to my mind the real replacement for the DS2, the Launch cam in underneath the DS2. I still have 2 of them a 5 and a 6 and they come out of the quiver every so often.

Nothing wrong with the Launch, casts nice but I'd have a cast of the FLi, the 5wt rated very highly by a lot of people, I like the 5wt but the 8wt is a standout. And the 7'6" 4wt is a very good rod as well.

Simple answer see if you can find a dealer to cast them

I've got a 6wt Launch and it does well with a Cortland 444 Lazer WF6F and also an Orvis Wonderline WF6F. Smooooth casting. Love the rod.
