    Default Not A Gurgle-Pop Day

They were just swimming up and and swimming away from my Gurgle-Pop/GRHEN Dropper rig so I changed to an improved Black and that was it! Most of the fish were again the usual subjects but there was one nice gill between 8-9"

Got to love it when an IBG wet fly saves the day.

Robert, I loaded your little black gnat into my bag -- then couldn't find it once at the lake. No wonder I only caught one "keeper." jGW

Well, JG, I hope at least Sharon caught something on the Improved McGinty. I hate to use the T word , but that cold water fish at the top of the fly angling chain likes the Improved McGinty and Improved Black Gnat also.

If you can't find the IBG, you can tie them as they are pretty easy to tie.

    Hey Greg,

I've had them reject Gurgle Pops too but not often. Griffth Gnats have saved the day for me. BTW, did you try changing colors? I've also saved the day by changing from bright to dull or dull to bright Gurgle Pops. 8T

Besides color I have used another change up for the gurgle pop, allows me to stay on the surface and it seems to work quite well. Sometimes they like to play tennis (or so I call it) with the gp. I change to a spider pattern that is a smaller presence and that seems ok so they hit it 'normally'. The two surface solutions seem to complement each other.
