    Default Outer Cape Cod

I spent the last week on the outer Cape
We fished the area from Chatham to Wellfleet.
Winds were a sustained 20 mph from the NE with gusts every day up to 40 mph.
The park ranger called it a nor'easter
Small craft warnings, high surf advisory.. every day
No flats fishing... no kayaking...and very little surf fishing..all things I live for...

Finding fish on south facing beaches was the rule of the day, and not just for us
One afternoon we fished Hardings beach in Chatham to a slow bite.
There were probably 20 fly fisherman casting on that beach that day.
Our "super secret" south facing beachs produced much better, especially when current met opposing wind.
Despite large numbers of fishermen in town to fish the (blownout) flats, we never saw any other fishermen in our "super secret" areas.
We caught bluefish up to 26" and as many schoolie stripers as you cared to.

The new moon in June is one of the few "big fish" days of the year.
We hit a "big fish" spot that night in wind, rain, and cold temps that made it seem like it was snowing...
I was suprised to see there were only a handfull of fly fishermen out dispite the well known location.
I caught one large bass that will most likely be my best fish of the year.
Others there did just as well or better

    Dudley,

You were looking to get the wind to your back, is that correct. Was this simply so that you could throw a fly more than 10' in the nor'easter?
Sound's like fun regardless of the weather.

With the wind quartering into your left shoulder, you could cast as far as you pleased.
Casting directly in to the teeth of it resulted in the 10' "dump" cast although at one spot that's all you needed
Shoulda known the weather was going to go down hill when we saw this

Even though there was no flats or 'yak fishing, there's no place I would have rather been.
