When you do share a meal or drink with Flats, your whole life will change. For one you will not be able to ever fish alone. Spirits will follow you. You will have the Dude with you watching over you and smiling wishing he was with you in person. There are others on this board that when you finally sit face to face you will feel like you have known them all your life. Dude is that kind. He lives life, shares it and makes you part of it.

Great story Gary.

We all carry our history with us, and I for one am glad to have those friends around. I have a hat from a friend and a vest. The hat I wear regularly and the vest is something that is pseudo fishing vest. Nothing I would wear, but knowing it was his is enough for me to keep it. Amazing how even now, I choke up writing these words. Your story evoked these memories and thank you for that.

I don't post much but I just wanted to add my appreciation of that article. Really made me think. I enjoyed it very much. Flats Dude, I live a ways south of you in Broward but I hope that one day I get to meet you on the water and shake your hand and thank you for the article in person.
