Does anyone tie a stimulator to use as a beetle or cricket pattern? If so can you offer the pattern? Thanks

    Hi lastchance,

Yes, a Black Stimulator or a Midnight Double Wing (LaFontaine pattern) are good flies to use as a beetle/cricket. They are listed below:

    Black Stimulator
All parts: Black (tie like the Prism Stimulator illustrated here)
    Front hackle: Grizzly

    Midnite Double Wing
Hook: Size 8 to 16, 1 or 2x dry fly
    Thread: Black
    Tail: Black Antron yarn, short
    Tip: White floss
Rear Wing: Black deer or elk
Body hackle: Black, palmered, trimmed top & bottom
    Body: Black Antron Touch Dubbing
Front wing: White calf tail, stacked
    Front hackle: Grizzly
