The Longest Day. What incredible courage they had. I am forever in their debt.
Jumping out of a C-47 with 100 lb packs, under fire, into enemy territory!
Thank you for your service to our country.
Humbly,
Doug

June 7, 1944: A war weary US receives reports of Allied casualties estimated at around 10,000; 6600 being Americans for ONE day of action.
Thank god my grandparents weren't screaming for a troop pull-out on June 8th.
A heartfelt thank you all of those who have served; especially those veterans of WWII.
You have no idea of the depth of my appreciation for what you have done for me and my country.
GShock---Maybe I was flying that C-47. Now --I cant imagine how some did it as 20 year old kids. BILL
Bill,
That was one of the best episodes of Band Of Brothers series. Anyone can plan a operation but the troops pulled it off. It makes me proud to be a American knowing our soldiers are the best.
Bill, if you were a C-47 pilot, did you ever want to get out and push? Those planes didn't go fast enough!

Yes slow but can take a beating. Good thing ground troop didn't know how to lead with their shots. BILL
Bill,
I watched a show about manufacturing during WW2 and the C-47 and many other weapons were the best. The speed of development was amazing and I'm sure that returning veterans had a lot of input in improvements. I am grateful for the Veterans who have spoken of their war experiences. We can never forget. My Father served in the Pacific in WW2, but he didn't talk about it. One of the most important things I have learned is 'Macho' wasn't what soldiers strove for, but they wanted to do their jobs and take care of their buddies.
Love that many of us will never know.
