Fly line to leader connection, why not a perfection loop?

With so many different ways to connect the fly line to the leader how come no one ever mentions using the perfection loop? Would this be a viable connection?

What is your favorite knot to use for the fly line to leader connection?

I was thinking of using a perfection loop since I change from a sinking leader to a regular mono leader to a piece of straight monofilament (short-line nymphing) throughout a fishing day and a loop-to-loop connection between fly line and leader makes for easy quick changes.

the system i use goes like this
tie a nail knot to the fly line with some 20lb test tippet
then tie a non slip mono loop on the end of that(that should be around 4-8inches long)
the you just use a loop-loop connection
and you can change out leaders quickly and easily

on the nail knot i put a little bit of super glue to smooth it out and on the non slip knot to make it catch free

for me it never catches weeds or gunk

just my system though.

nothing wrong with tying a perfection loop in the end of the leader as long as the knot remains small enough to go thru the guides.

Thats what I use. I've whipped permanent loops into the ends of my fly lines and loop to loop my leaders to them using a perfection loop. No problems at all going through the guides.

I use a perfection loop in the leader. In a pinch I've even used on on the line.
Fishing a dark beach at night, my whipped loop let loose and the batteries of my flashlight were dead.
Find a way to fix it or go home.
I stripped off some fly line coating and tied a perfection loop in the core material.
A knot I knew I could tie in the dark.
It worked so well I left it that way for the rest of the season

I take an old leader butt and nail knot it to the last 6 inches or so to the end of the fly line. So at the end of the fly line, I have about 6 inches of mono with a perfection loop in it. I also have perfection loops in the ends of the leaders. This makes things simple, loop to loop connections with a permanent loop on the end of each fly line.

I nail knot 15 lb (20 on 8 and above) mono and tie a perfection loop in it. Just 3- 4 inches to loop. Then I tie a perfection loop to the eng of the leader and loop it on. Yes it is a little snaggy. You can help with pliobond or such, but it makes switching leaders easy. Plus I have done this for 20 years. I think I am going to the Castwell system when I get a little ambition - never known him to be wrong.

I use Phoenix silk line and their silk braided leaders. They use a small loop to attach the tippets, but a rather different way to attach the leader to the line. I would do it, but the leaders last so long that it works for me. It's a perfect no hinge connection and very smooth through the guides.

Funny no one mentioned a 'Crazy Glue Splice' or whatever name it goes by. It's perfectly smooth and the connection goes through the guides like there's no connection at all. Now, I'm talking about freshwater fishing for trout, large bass and steelhead. I've used it without any problem of separation. In fact yesterday my friend had to use one of my reels that had this as a line/leader connection. He got hung up in a tree and applied a lot of direct pressure. The connection held and he even got the fly back(hook was completely bent straight).

Absent the above connection, if you do use a Perfection Loop, make it as small as possible.
