    Default Newbie Question

    Hi,

    This is a real newbie question. Sometimes when I?m fishing on a hot day I really don?t want to wear my waders, but only my wading boots. However, the boot is sized to fit the neoprene sock of the waders. So I have all this extra room in my wading boot. Do I wear several layers of socks to fill in the space? Do I buy some neoprene socks? Both? Or what?

    Thanks in advance.

    Wear one pair of regular socks underneath a big pair of wool socks. That will give you bulk, plus the thick wool will keep sand and grit off your feet.

    Those Sandals are Bite's right? That is what I use and love them (especially the toe guards).

    This time of year you can go up to the local high school and ask the maintenance staff to save you a few pair of athletic shoes. Just guessing but they will have about 1 pair per every 20 students. 100 students equals 5 pairs. They work great when you want to wet wade.

    Rev:

    I started wet wading a few weeks ago and won't stop till I shiver for more than an hour consecutively which is usually around the end of October.

    My standard set up is:
    • * Suitable pants, in my case the quick dry Supplex Nylon type

      * A HEAVY pair of wool socks on my bare feet

      * [url=http://www.simmsfishing.com/za/SIM?PAGE=PRODUCT_DETAILS&CAT=accessories&PROD.ID=1 5588:74fea]Simms Neoprene Guard Socks[/url:74fea] wading bootees with the gravel guards over the wool socks

      * My regular wading shoes

    I get almost the identical fit as I do with waders on and the neoprene gravel guards help too. When the day's fishing is done I just put on dry socks and my street shoes for the drive home. If I wade really deep I may change pants/shirt, etc.
