Warped Sense of Humor
Some people accuse me of having a warped sense of humor. Maybe so asI thought this quite amusing:
When driving across Nevada just east of Wells on I80 I saw this highway sign. I didn't dare get out of the truck to take the picture so it didn't come out real clear. There are 3 signs. The white one is hard to read so I entered it below the picture.

Outside of Jackson, Michigan is one of the largest prisons in the United states. Our road signs are a little different..they say: Don't Pick Up Hitchikers - Prison Area"
Would you pick up a guy in a black and white striped jump suit with a ball and chain around his ankle?
I can just see Mrs. Jonezee..."Oh honey pull over, there's a poor man on the side of the road dragging that awful ball, let's help him out."

that is funny but it doesn't surprise me. One time I saw a permanent sign that said DAMAGED ROAD.(Nev.)
I'm used to seeing temp signs warning about things, but when you see a warning sign planted in the middle of nowhere it is sort of spooky.

Along the lines of the "damaged road", one of my favorites was running down a paved road in southern Iowa. Saw road work ahead and a sign that read - "BUMP".
Just as you passed the sign there was about a 4" drop in the pavement.
About 30 yards further down the road was a hand-lettered sign that read -
"That wasn't it."
and it wasn't either!

When I was in MS last week, I kept seeing these signs saying something like "Bridge may ice in cold weather". I have NEVER seen such a thing in Colorado, or Montana, or...
Once, while on a trip in Montana, we came upon a sign right near the top of hill that (surprise) said "Road Construction Ahead". Immediately over the top of the hill was a second sign that said, "Prepare to Meet Thy God!". They got some serious road work going on up there...
Washington: "Caution: No warning signs"
