Question about Sylk Flyline.

Hi all,

I just got a Sylk flyline this weekend. It was great after I got it set up.

I did have a problem getting it set up. I was trying to use a nail knot to attach a butt section of Amnesia to the Sylk line. The knot kept stripping the line from the core. I could NOT get it to work right.

Any ideas?

Why not just form a loop with the section of flyline core and cover it with tying thread and then coat the knot with Plio-bond or Zap-a-Gap?

You could use fluorescent tying thread to wrap it and you'd have a built in strike indicator and the ability to change leaders via the loop-to-loop method.

I've done this with 8 and 9 weight line lines and never had any problems with the loops failing.

There are several alternatives, people have their pets. Personally, I almost always whip a small loop on the end of the line then loop to loop the leader.

Also, look up the Castwell knot.

I now use a Super Glue Splice to connect the Leader to my Fly Line.It very simple and holds extremely well!All you have to do is use a big Sewing Needle and insert in into the Tip of the Fly Line,the needle has to be big enough to allow your butt section of your Leader to insert into the Fly Line,then cover where the two Sections Join with Superglue(Crazy Glue).I use the Brush on Super Glue.No more worries about knots getting caught in you Guides because the Connection is flat.
