    Default Fishing in Ireland

My family and I will be in Ireland for a week in August ! Does anybody on here know anything about fishing there ? We would like to fish for Sea Trout and/or Salmon, as we live in Colorado and already fish for Trout. We will fly into Shannon Airport and travel North and West from there. How about around Galway or along the west coast. Any Gurus ?

    Paddy,
A week in Ireland with your family is hardly enough time to experience the beauty available let alone find time to fish. I would resist the urge to fish on my first visit. To LImerick,Adair, the cliffs of Mohr, the Dingle Peninsula, Gallway and the Bay,the hundreds of pubs with the nicest people in the world would be well worth your while instead. Go fishing on your next visit and there's sure to be another if Ireland does for you what it did for me.
BUT if you insist on fishing, you can start in The Shannon River, the Meig, and hundreds of rivers along your planned route. There is no shortage of fishing spots in Ireland the bigger problem is public access.

Check with John Breslin. He might be able to help you. He is listed in the FFF magazine. John is a super individual. Good luck.

Marco, this is our second visit ! We were there two years ago and saw all you mention and much much more, we were there 14 days. This time we are going to see what we didn't see last time plus we are taking one day for fishing.

I found the ranchers to be very agreeable to letting you use their land to gain access to waterways if you are polite and ask to do so.
    Trout don't speak Latin.
