I just got a brochure in the mail about a 2004 rodmakers raffle. Seems a bit behind the times. Is this for real or a phish attempt?

There IS a rodmakers raffle for a cane rod which is being done in conjunction with the Trout Bums BBQ in Graying, MI on June 25th.

They presented in a very ambiguous manor.
In fact, it is a bamboo fly-rod presentation package called "The Makers Rod 2004" and it will raffled on June 25, 2005.

Hi,
I don't know who mailed it to you, but the raffle is very real and very special.
The rod is made as a joint effort by rod makers across the country, each making one strip (my husband David Van Burgel does, which is partially how I know about this)and someone, in this case, the incomparable Al Medved, doing the finishwork, etc. Just to read a list of the rod makers involved over the years is to embrace quite a history of the craft.
The proceeds go to the work needed on the beautiful trout streams of the Grayling area, and the drawing is held in conjunction with the Trout Bum Barbeque, the Greyrock cane rod makers gathering, and the convergence unpon Grayling of a group calling themselves the Fishheads. The hex hatch is usually on, too, by the way
