Thread: Starling Dandruff?

  1. #1

    Default Starling Dandruff?

I bought some starling skins for the first time for some soft hackles. When I opened the pack a substance that I can only describe as "dandruff" fell out, when you shake the pelt it falls off and you can see it on the feathers. The feathers seem fine but I am concerned about the "dandruff" I don't think it is bugs as it is not moving, but I have never seen anything like this. Anything to be concerned about? Thanks,

Agree Borax or something used to cure the skin...I got a partridge that way once....now most of my skins have it...cause that's what I use
