It was a very proud moment - was a long time in coming.
I suspect there are more undecorated heros out there we will never know about.
He unselfishly risked his life to help his brothers.

Being an Air Cavalry Trooper from the cold war, this is very near and dear to my heart! I never got to serve with Lt. Col. Crandall but served with several other Air Cav Troopers that did. Get the movie "We Were Soldiers" and the book "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" if you want to learn lots about the heroism of Lt. Col. Crandall and his crews.
This has been too long in coming. He should have been awarded the C.M.H. then but better late than never.
