I got a phone call from Mike Martinec today with the news that Warren Duncan had passed away. He was found in his tying bench chair, chin on his chest with a completed fly in his hand. I believe he was 57. He was a fine fly tyer.

That is very sorrowful news. What a great indicator of his character, though. Passed at the bench. Although still young at 57, I can't think of too many places or activities I'd rather be doing when I called it quits. My condolences go out to his family and friends. I'm sure he'll be well missed.

Don;t want to take away from any expreesions of sorrow on losing a friend but could I suggest another way of putting it?
I fly kites when I at the Jerrsey shore and when a fellow kite flyer passes, we refer to it a "An empty pace in the sky". "An empty space on the stream (or bank)" would sound nice.'
Just a suggestion.

Sorry to hear of his passing but from your thread he went peacefully doing what he loved to do. Be nice if everyone could when their time comes.
