Thread: Cane/Bamboo "traditional" hardware?

  1. #1

    Default Cane/Bamboo "traditional" hardware?

Anyone got any good hints/tips on where (on-line preferably) to learn a little more about hardware (guides, grips, etc) used on rods from a while back?

I may have a rod coming soon and am considering retoring it to match its period (30's I believe).

    Thanks.

    Fisherpup,

You might consider stopping by the FAOL Chatroom on Thursday evenings. That's the Bamboo chat night. Several fine rod makers and boo enthusiasts are there and would be happy to help answer your questions.

    Default Golden Witch

I just found out about a site that specializes in old style components. They are a little pricey, but very interesting to look through. They have such things as agate stripping guides and brass snake guides.

    Default Bamboo Hardware

M.Sinclair's "Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook" is THE source --- and I understand that it is recently back in print. It deals w/ production rods, H-I, S.B., Monty ,etc. It shows the standard wrap colors, hardware specs, and production era for many of the standard rods made by a dozen or so companies.
