I was watching a tv program about the Dunsnuir, Ca. area and they had a bamboo rod builder - Dunsmuir Rod Co. that will run you through a week long program to build your rod using his professional equipment and expertise for about a thousand dollars. If this is a high-quality finished product, I would think that would really be a fun project, and he throws in fishing every evening behind the shop.

Herefishy, That will be a quality rod. He does outstanding work. The only way you can get into his shop is call ahead and schedule a time. That way he can concentrate on his building. Go to the web site. There is a small cabin right next door you can rent. If I had the money Id do it in a heartbeat.

herefishy, I've spent time both personally and professionally with Chris including casting the cane rods he makes. You won't be able to match the experience that you'll receive for the money, plus if you've not been to that area, are you ever in for a treat. If you hired guides for a week of fly fishing around Dunsmuir you'd spend roughly $1,800 alone. Do it. You've found something special.

I bought a MKIV Bougle from Chris a few years back. The man is a pleasure to deal with,, I could only imagine fishing with this lad. Beautiful rods too!!
