Anyone else note that Rio Windcutter line tends to have a lot of memory?
I have a couple of the older Rio Windcutter lines (not the Windcutter II.)
After a Winter of being stored on the spool the lines do seem full of coils. I like to clean my lines each start of the fishing season, after a warm bath in a sink full of soapy water the memory seems to be gone. I do have trouble getting the yellow lines really clean, they always look a little dirty.
kengore...just the warm water...no stretching?
As part of my cleaning ritual I also apply some line dressing. This involves pulling it through a little green plastic box that holds line dressing on felt pads.
I suppose that stretches it a bit, but it's pretty limp after a 10 minute soak in the warm water.
I usally take my Rio spey lines off the reels with a line winder and secure them with pipe cleaners, and store them in large freezer bags. When I string them back up, I like to clean them with warm water and Ivory soap. I then stretch them up, secure one end of the line to a fence and proceed to dress them with Poo Goo or similiar dressing. I then leave the line streched out for a couple of hours. This takes all the coils out and I'm ready to go...
If it is a long winter I do the same thing with my WF Rio lines before I go out...
