I am going to try the crazy glue method since when I tried the V and fold I still did not get the even results even when using the pinch. Maybe the glue keeps the barbs in line.
Ron's method works pretty good for me though.

That is all excellent advice.
I take the traditional Irish view and dye them orange.
Thus they have no good/bad sides and the dye accentuates the black tips.

Ray,
That sounds like a great idea. What brand and color of dye did you use to match the orange of the feathers?
Bob
Hi, Bob,
I use Veniards and Dylon dyes
The #2 sunset glow Dylon is sweet as is Veniard orange.
Any dye will do the job, use what you trust.
Do not overheat.

Ray,
Gave the orange dye a try and it worked out pretty good. I only had fluroescent orange by Veniard and used that. Not an exact match, but close.
This will make using those tippets for tailing much easier.
The other methods mentioned worked to a degree, but I always got 'dull' sides showing. I know for fishing it does not matter, but I am tying for display too.
Thanks for the tip.
Bob
