Thread: Best Excuse Given for Flyfishing

I got luckey a few years back and am fishing a private 38 acre reservoir. 90% of the time we are the only ones there. I run a shop next to the house and the wife gets back from work around 4:00. Around 5:00, when I can close, it used to be "Want to make dinner or go fishing". Now it's just understood, and you have to have a reason not to fish. No trout but I can live with that. Biggst crappie I have EVER seen. 12 inch average, 16.5 best I've done. Its our 28th wedding aniv. today and I gotta get. I'm burnin' daylight.

Never needed an excuse to go fishing. I just ask the wife "Wanta go fishing?". She's usually wadered up and in the truck before me. It's great having a fly fisher for a better half.

I usually tell the spouse, honey, I'm goin fishin, Her question is,"When will you be home?" I state, "when you see me walk thru the front door. Bye.
Really though, mine is very nice about it, I clean, vacuum, dust, do dishes, laundry, just to have a trump card of, "Honey, there's nothing in the house left for me to do!".
Okay, I am ready for my ribbing now!!!
    Let me have it!!!!

My wife loves to fish and camp also. When it is camping time when I come home from work she has the gear loaded up and usually is on the phone asking me when I will be home cuz she is ready to hit the trail.

It is so fun to watch her fish she gets so excited she gets a really bad case of the adrenaline shakes. It is so fun to see!

I just smile sweetly and ask,"Would you prefer it if I was attending wild parties, drinking and getting involved with loose women?"Kinda gets the point across!

I can't recall ever using an excuse. I LOVE flyfishing, Colleen LOVES various "groups/clubs"& "meetings"....great part is that we both respect the others hobbies & interests. We also share the thought that you cannot relax & enjoy yourself when you're watching a clock, so when we pursue our interests, we'll be home when we get home. The cell phones go along for emergencies.
    Bottom line....respect + trust=no excuse needed!
