    Default What a weekend!!

    Hey All,

I just had one of the most amazing trout weekends of my life! My partner and I landed some 60 or more trout on Saturday! Most were in the 4" - 7" range, but we also caught rainbows, browns, and brookies measuring 11"+.

Then, on Sunday, a friend was casting a spinner under a low bridge. A nice 23" rainbow followed the spinner out, but did not hit.

The trout then established a feeding lane just in front of us. The water was quite clear, and I watched the white of his mouth flash several times during the next few minutes.

I tied on a #16 copper john, and drifted it toward him. On the second drift, I saw the white of his mouth flash, so I set the hook. What followed was a lengthy fight pitting his strength against my 4 wt. At the end, I was holding 23" of silvery muscle; the largest I've landed to date.

    What a weekend!

    Andrew,

    Nice weekend. Thanx for sharing.

It does get the heart pumping when you get to sight fish to a monster.

Fun you did through strategy and observation. Setting up in his lane 'an all.

    Great stuff.

    JC,
And welcome to the... "16/23" club!
There used to be a 20 club on my home waters (long ago). I "believe" L Wulff is in it (but not sure).

To get in, you have to bring to hand a 20+ lb atlantic on a 20 or better fly !!

Pretty damn good Andrew. You'll be on a high for quite a while after a catch like that. Was that up in the Adirondacks perhaps?

    Hey Devil's Ditch,

Actually, it was on a stream in south-central Ontario, Canada. South-central and mid-western Ontario have plenty of rivers and streams that get almost no pressure.

Last year I fished a local river almost every night (for about two weeks) during a hatch of large mayflies. I was the only one on the water and probably brought almost 100 trout to the net.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
