My Googling and FAOL searches have come up zip nada as far as finding any images or info on a fly called Gabriel's Trumpet.
Can anyone point me to a site that has an image or recipe?

In "Fly Fisherman" in Fly Tier's Bench section an article by Skip Morris entitled "Gabriel's Trumpet"....sorry since I tear articles out I can't tell you the exact issue ...I think it was fairly recent....wonder why some mags don't put info on each page.....
Edit: found the mag....it was recent ...February 2007
thanks Ducksterman,
Its off to the bookstore for me!
Its Febuary's 2007 issue if that helps.
Seege
I thought that's what I said
Has anyone tied/used this fly. I am thinking about tying some up, but would like to know how it compares to the Copper John or Pheasant Tail(my go to flies) before I do.
Barnes & Noble didn't have any copies of Fly Fisherman. They had about every other fly fishing mag except that one.
Anybody have any images or links to images?
I tried googling it and nothing came up. Heres the pattern From Fly Fisherman
Gabriel's Ttumper
By Skip Morris
Hook- 10 to 16 heavy wire and curved
Gold Bead Head
lead or lead free wire for wieght
Thread - gold or yellow
Tails - Goose biots gold or yellow
Abdomen - gold Krystal Flash or Flashabou
Rib - Fine Copper Wire
Wing Case - Turkey Fibers or Thin Skin
Thorax - Tan Ostrich Herl
Collar - Ginger or Tan Hen Neck
That is the Gold version he also shows a black and a lighter, but no recipe. To me it just looks like another copper John or searching nymph pattern.
Thanks AllStar
Sounds like a golden colored bead head nymph then.
Appreciate the effort to post the recipe. Now to find that mag once and for all!
best
rrhyne56,
