Using the foto and recipe provided in the following link, just tie in materials in the order they appear in the recipe. Its easy!!

Looks like a good panfish fly. I will be trying it.

    heres my intepretation:

slide gold bead head up to eye, insert hook in vise, cover the entire shank with chartruse thread, wrap to the front, wrap to about mid shank or 3/4 of the way back and tie in that antron wing, with thread wraps underneath to support it in the upright position, wrap to the back leaving about 1/8" of thread exposed (for the tag tail) tie in 3-4 peacock herls, wrap thread forward to the bead, wrap herl forward and around the wing, wrap it to the eyes and tie it off. whipfinish and then go fishing!

thats how i would tie it, good luck!

thanks all. tied up a few last night. turned out pretty well for a rookie. also added some thin gold wire on some of them to see if that aids in the durability. saw a couple of recipes, some with and some without the gold wire.

This fly has been one of my go to flies for years, and works for panfish or trout. I tie it with one major variation from the above, by counterwrapping a gold wire to reinforce the peacock herl.

For those visual learners among us, you can find both a recipe and photos of tying steps for the fly in John Van Vliet's "The Art of Fly Tying" or his "Fly-Tying Techniques and Patterns." The old Fly Fisherman CD-ROM, "The Art of Fly Tying" even has step by step film clips for the fly.

Wow, I think I actually have all the ingredients for this one. Usually when I run across a pattern, I am missing at least one. Nevermind the fact that I have spent hundreds of dollars over the last 20 years on materials. I think I have my pattern to try today.

    Thanks

    Dave
