    Default Reel Identification-Need Help

I have just come into possession of a reel and need some assistance.

It has a capitol B in the middle of the spool with a heart around the B. Outside of that, it says Graphite Filled Spool 556GR.

Nothing else remarkable about it, it's black.

If you could point me in the right direction or tell me something about this reel, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you!

Might be a Berkley, I think they mass produced some reels made of graphite.

Yep,think its a Berkley.I had a couple of them back in the 80's.The spool just pops off and its indestructable. They didnt have strong drags but got the job done. They got pretty good write-ups as I remember.I think there were 2 or 3 sizes and even came with spare parts.

Yes it's a Berkley and was also sold in Canada as a Fenwick (since they have the same parent company). I know you can change the retrieve for either left or right hand but can't bring it to mind just now. Does it have a standard clip for removing the spool or is it the kind with the rubber casket on the spindle? I was always careful to keep the rubber clean of grease. I gave mine away, but know they are still in use.

It has the rubber gasket on the spool. It will work well for my daughter's rig. The line is in good shape and should work well for her! I have to get some backing on it and tie on a loop connector to get it up and running.

I'll get my 5wt reel back from her anyways!!!
