We will be in Knoxville April 10-14, 2007. I wanted to take my fly rod along and see if I couldn't connect with some TN trout. Anyone know of any good places to fish, or any fly shops to stop in at to get some info? Thanks in advance.

As far as fly shops in Knoxville, there is the Creel on Kingston Pk. About a 35 min. drive into Townsand is Little River Outfitters. There is also a Bass Pro Shops about a 30 min. drive at the Sevierville exit of I40. There is great trout fishing below Norris Dam about a half hour from downtown Knoxville. There is also great trout fishing in the Smokeys. At the time you will be here the fishing will be fantastic. If I can be of any more help please let me know. John
I wish you all everlasting flies and tight lines.
Great time of year! Lived there during the 80s and the Clinch below Norris was a favorite place. Check with TVA on the generation schedule got caught once made a believer out of me!! The fly shop on Kingston Pike will give you a number.
If you feel like driving about 90 minutes NE you may want to check out the South Holston River as well as the Watauga River. I've not fished any of the rivers that have been mentioned by the others thus far but I have fished the two I shared. I live 3 hours from these rivers and fish them every chance I get. Good luck.
Thanks for all the replies everyone. Sounds like I have a few choices of places to go.
A little ways for you to go but the Caney Fork(Center Hill Dam) is east of Nashville.
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
