    Default Caney Fork river, Tn.

Abundant small rainbows(9-12") caught on black wooley buggers.
Fished just in and slightly out of shallow fast-moving channels near grass.
    Water was UP!!
I also noticed very many fingerling browns. I even managed to catch 3 on black ants before I noticed how many were hunkered down there. I moved and left them alone.
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.

Hey BBW...sounds like you may have been just about 500 yards or so below the dam there!! It is still fishing well, we drifted yesterday from the dam to Happy Hollow and managed to find quite a few in that same size range and quite a few a bit larger. Just about everything we caught was on Bead Headed Pheasant Tails, and picked up a few on a Gabriel's Trumpet. Most of the smaller fish were oddly taken in the deeper parts of the river with quite a few larger bows taken in the skinnies!!

It's always a fun trip to float that river!

No, we were about 3hrs downstream from the dam.

We went back this past week end.....what a mistake! They were running 12,100 CFS! The water was unfishable.

yep, that was unplanned as they suspected structural integrity issues with the dam and found out it was nothing at all. If you need to check the generation schedules:

TVA's site is the place to get verifications, but they never contemplate some changes that are made.

Hope to see you up here some time, we will be on it on Wednesday

I called ahead of time and they were supposed to run one generator from 7-10 pm Friday night and then one from 7-10am Sat.
When we were at breakfast I called and found out they ran 2-3 generators from 7-10 and found out the 12,100 CFS and about croaked!
We fished a stream near home and got into a pack of Rock Bass and had a blast.
Has the water come down? I want to try to come this coming Saturday.
    Thanks!

yes sure has. Lots of good fishing on Sunday, and today the schedule was from 5 to 7, tomorrow it is from 5 to 7. We had lots of really good reports on Sunday's fishing with a lot of 15 and up fish being reported. We will be drifting it on Wednesday from the dam to probably Happy Hollow, and I can hardly wait...the boat has been loaded and ready since this afternoon!!

If you go by Kirby Rd. on Saturday, say hi.
I will be there, possibly Betty's Island, near the dam or at the spot about a 1/2 below the dam near the "cliffs".

If generation is low on Saturday we will probably wade. where do you usually fish at Kirbys, up or down river from the bridge?

We park at the pull-off spot on the right side of the road and walk down to the left(upstream) and fish there and upstream maybe 1/8 mile or so. We don't go as far as the big bridge(Interstate?) down stream. Of course there is a big hole to the right of the parking area.

Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.
